Glycolic acid is a natural acid, synthesized for cosmetic use, extracted from sugar cane although is also extracted from grapes, beetroot and other fruits.
It belongs to the so called Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA), being the most used due to its low molecular weight which allows to dissolve the links between dead cells of the corneum layer, accelerating the epidermis cell renewal cycle, as well as supporting the actives to penetrate the skin’s layer after exfoliation.
In this way, Glycolic acid is highly efficient in managing several problems of the skin such as acne, seborrheic dermatitis, aging, stretch-marks, skin spots, hyperkeratosis (accumulation of keratin on the external layer of the skin), xerosis (dry and scaly skin).
As a consequence of this, it protects collagen and elastin of the skin, favoring the epidermis to completely remodel, it produces a chemical non-abrassive peel, helps eliminate the spots, makes the corneal layer thinner, increases the skin’s hydration and corrects the appearance of impurities controlling the production of oil on acne skins, decreasing it and eliminating an excess of brightness.
It also corrects tonal issues and refines pores, deep cleanses, deep moisturizes, enhances the ability of skin tissue to absorb vital compounds and finally adds luminosity and a dewy glow to the complexion.
Professional Products also available in 3ml monodose.
A chemical peel is a technique used by professional dermatologists to improve the skin on face, neck and hands by stripping away dry and dull skin to reveal the softer and smoother skin underneath. Through the application of a chemical solution, chemical peels achieve an non-invasive painless exfoliation that will eventually peel off the damaged skin. The new skin appears smoother and less wrinkled.
Chemical peels are appropriate for acne scars, aging skin, hyperpigmentation, melasma, chrono and photo-aging.
Depending on the skin damage, chemical peels can be superficial, medium or deep. The evaluation by a dermatologic surgeon should reveal which one to apply and which skins are not recommended to use chemical peels (pregnant women, patient with infections, broken skin and sunburns)
